Light Fixtures

This assignment required drawing light fixtures within the Gateway Studio Arts Building. Each fixture had to be drawn from three different perspectives. I have chosen to to follow a format similar to technical drawing using the Front, Top and Side drawings.
With this perspective drawing, i used a view finder to show emphasis on certain parts of this light fixture. To approach this idea, I had to sit in certain places along the same line or pattern at different distances.

Rain boots Exercise

This is a 15min. warm-up exercise

Perspective Architectural Hardware

Each box is based on a different perspective extending back into space. This was done using a 12"x12" viewfinder with a 3" diameter.

Twig/Cell Thumbnails

This is the final product of the thumbnails made of the twig and leaf sketches. The exercise required taking our previous "A place for 12 Twigs" and our cell phone and drawing thumbnails of them using a view finder. Then combining both sets of thumbnails together to create a new image. It started with 64 separate thumbnails of both the cell phone and twigs each. Then, I combined them into 32 thumbnails incorporating images from the two previous 64 thumbnails.

Hatching

This exercise was done by drawing an object based on lines. I did a light sketch of the figure as a whole, then created thin lines to show the shape and form. There is also little cross hatching done to show where one line ends and another begins. I found it difficult to make the curves in the bottom cushion of the couch look realistic as well and showing the depth of the object as you view it from front to back.

Contour of Teaching Assistants

I find blind contours to be somewhat challenging because it forces you to slow down your drawing and requires complete concentration of hand-eye coordination. This exercise required drawing our Teaching Assistants who sat back to back in a chair and the students drawing them, contour style.
I had the most trouble with facial features and determining where to stop drawing the hair on each model. However, I also find this very interesting because it creates a completely different image from what was originally given.

Blind Contour of "Place for a Leaf"

This drawing was based on the final product of "A place for a leaf" Project. It required drawing our project under the style of blind contour. I drew my project at different angles and views to show both the difference and communality between them.

Contour of Bike

This contour of an upside down bike was both very difficult and time consuming. The process I took in creating this was to start in what seemed to be the easiest place which i presumed to be the center where the bike creates a triangle and branches out to different sections of the bike. I found the most difficult thing to draw here are the circles for the tires and the spokes within the tire frame.
